International Trade Adviser
Annie shares her experience of over 25 years in export-related roles, to help businesses succeed overseas. She supports this with a wide network of contacts in international trade.
After University, Annie started her career as an export sales assistant. She continued to work in International Business and worked her way up to become Export Sales Manager. During this time, she spent over two years at the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce as an International Business Development Manager. She also lectured at local colleges on the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Institute of Export programmes.

Lead Innovation Growth Adviser
Giles helps ambitious small-to-medium sized businesses launch new products and services. His advice covers business growth planning, marketing, pricing, profitability, leadership, intellectual property and raising finance.
Before joining Exemplas, Giles worked as a management consultant, and was responsible for implementing business change projects related to advances in technology. He has a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Strategy.

Online Growth Account Manager
Kieran works with private, public and third sector organisations, to help them identify and analyse valuable business information and resources. He also guides them on how to use this knowledge to their best advantage.
Motivated by the challenge of helping businesses solve problems and overcome barriers, Kieran shares the experience he gained working in the public and private sectors, as well as his experience in local government.

International Trade Adviser
Lydia supports a variety of businesses, acting as their go-to person for advice related to exporting. Fluent in Italian and Spanish, she has a profound and practical knowledge of documentation and trade procedures worldwide.
Lydia has many years of experience working in export sales and international business development roles for UK manufacturing companies. She also worked as an import/export consultant in Italy

International Trade Adviser
Before joining Exemplas, Vanda spent more than a decade working in the healthcare and medical devices sector, promoting UK-made rehabilitation devices to an international audience.
She’s overcome challenges related to currency fluctuations, disputes over exclusivity, differential pricing from distributors, goods stuck in customs or quarantine, goods lost in transit and many, many more.

Growth Account Manager
Wendy helps businesses identify and overcome barriers to business growth. She works closely with clients to assess their business needs and provide support and resources to help them fulfil their growth ambitions.
Before joining Exemplas, Wendy worked as local business manager at a bank – a role that involved reviewing the business plans of potential customers. She subsequently became a business adviser, delivering advice to small and medium size enterprises and social enterprises.

Chief Executive Officer
David leads the strategy for the business, particularly how we engage with our sectors and deliver quality advisory services to the SME and student market. Having originally joined as a Senior Relationship Manager in 2005 and serving as a director for nine years, he was subsequently appointed CEO in 2016. David has gleaned vast insight in how to translate the needs and objectives of our partners into innovative delivery, tailored to their clients.
He is a passionate advocate of digitisation and innovation, and recognises its potential for extending the support businesses can access.
Commercial and Enterprise Director
Malcolm leads the strategy for the development and delivery of our expert advisory services, with particular focus on the education and private sectors. He also leads on the development and implementation of commercial innovation.
For the past nine years his interest and focus has been on supporting the UK SME and social business sectors. Using this experience as well as previously being a highly-successful entrepreneur, Malcolm has developed our unique and innovative digital business support product mybusinesspal® for the SME market, that is currently in beta testing.
Marketing and IT Director
As director of marketing, Graeme brings customers into the heart of what we do. IT expertise and a passion for digital engagement are pivotal to his role, and allow him to tap digital innovation to exploit emerging opportunities in today’s fast-paced markets.
Before he joined Exemplas, Graeme worked as head of pan-European marketing for a FTSE 250 logistics company. Here, he helped take sales from £28m to £90m in the first year. Before that, he worked at Exponential-e, where he supported their transformation into one of the fastest growing technology companies in the UK.
Innovation and Programmes Director
Graham’s area of expertise is to develop the programme & policy aspirations of government and fund holders into practical service delivery. With over 20 years experience of delivering business support services to SMEs and business start-ups, his career has been characterised by using his skills, knowledge and experience gained working directly with clients in the development and management of new services. As a result, Graham has played a leading role in the delivery of business support across the UK & Europe.
Following a diverse career working in both the private and public sectors, Graham worked as a Business Adviser and later Business Adviser Manager leading a team of 12 generalist and specialist advisers providing business support across all business disciples including exports, design and innovation & technology.
Graham is a registered business mentor and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Managing Director, Exemplas Trade Services
Marguerite is responsible for our contracts with Department of International Trade and European Regional Development Fund in the east of England. Her task? To help companies identify and secure export opportunities.
From companies that are new to exporting to firms that are not maximising their overseas trading potential – Marguerite is a trusted adviser to them all.
Marguerite’s background is as international as they come – she worked for the British Consulate Generals in Atlanta and Toronto. She also worked in South Africa.
She has business management degree from the University of South Africa and degree in corporate communications from the University of Johannesburg.
Managing Director, Enterprise Growth Solutions Ltd
Philip leads our Department of International Trade (DIT) project across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
His specialisms are many: change management, stakeholder engagement and people development – to name but a few. This has allowed him to form close relationships with varied partners, including chambers of commerce, local enterprise partnerships, local authorities, and private sector businesses.
Philip has many years of experience in aid funding, procurement, business development and project delivery – in the UK and around the world. He has an MBA from Manchester Business School, and a post-graduate diploma in Managing Performance and Change International Business/Trade/Commerce.
Director of Finance and Corporate Services
Alun oversees operations and finance for Exemplas, and for our joint ventures and subsidiary companies.
A chartered accountant, he specialises in bidding, securing and delivering profitability for our large public sector contracts – across the UK and internationally.
Alun started his career in a small accountancy firm, then moved into industry – first as chief accountant for an audio company, and later, a subsidiary of Philips. This role included setting up a distribution company in Paris and seeing it through its first audit under French and US GAAP.
