Exemplas supports Hertfordshire businesses to ‘build back better’ via the £220m UK Community Renewal Fund

Posted on: 01/03/2022

Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership successfully secured £3.26m funding for five projects via the £220m UK Community Renewal Fund. The fund will contribute to the levelling up agenda by investing in people, places, businesses, and communities improving everyday life across the UK.

Exemplas is leading two of these projects, which will be delivered by Hertfordshire Growth Hub, in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and Visit Herts. The packages of tailored business support will help to grow the local Hertfordshire economy after the pandemic.

The Building Back Better Growth Programme: supporting small businesses to scale-up sustainably

The Building Back Better Growth Programme, delivered in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, is aimed at helping SMEs to sustain their recovery and growth following the pandemic, as well as equipping them with the skills and capabilities they need to develop their sustainable practices, net-zero literacy, and digitalisation.

A range of tailored support packages are available to SMEs to achieve this, including 1-2-1 mentoring, grant funding, the sustainability accelerator programme and webinar events.

Herts Camera Action: capitalising on Hertfordshire’s world-class film and TV industry

The Herts Camera Action project, delivered in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and Visit Herts, kickstarts innovation by supporting the creative industries’ supply chain, investing in creative skills and knowledge exchange, and developing a series of brand-new screen tourism products to support the rebuild of Hertfordshire’s visitor economy. It aims to help capitalise on the estimated £140m spent by international visitors’ on-screen tourism across England (excl. London) each year.

Businesses have access to a package of support including specialist 1-2-1 advice, knowledge exchange, grant funding, skills support, and the screen tourism development programme.
