International Trade Adviser – Technology Sector

About the role

We are looking for an International Trade Adviser – Technology Sector to provide advisory and specialist consultancy services to technology businesses across Yorkshire & The Humber that are looking to develop or expand their export activity.  In this role you will;

  • develop new relationships and drive delivery of export support services across the region
  • provide clients with professional, honest and high-quality consultative export advice appropriate to their needs
  • educate businesses on the benefits of different types of trade support and other types of public and private business support available
  • work with clients to develop strategic export plans and utilise and promote the benefits of the ERDF Exporting for Growth project
  • have responsibility for delivering your individual targets and contributing to key team performance targets and objectives

About you

You will need to have experience of developing an export function or have previously worked with SMEs/MSBs in the field of exporting and will have a strong understanding of the technology business landscape in the region.  You will also;

  • have experience of working at a strategic level within the technology sector and/or its subsectors including Smart Cities, electronic hardware & systems, mobile & wireless communications technologies, Software-as-a-Service, AI, Internet of Things, data analytics, cloud services or related areas;
  • have awareness of, and ability to converse with businesses on all aspects of finance related issues, with particular importance on UK Export Finance related services;
  • have in-depth knowledge of DIT (Department for International Trade) services and structure together with good understanding of other services offered by local and international providers in connection with international trade
  • be a self-driven and highly motivated individual capable of delivering against challenging targets
  • capable of working independently, but also a great team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels
  • be a proficient IT user with experience of using Word, Excel, Outlook and multiple CRM data entry systems and capable of managing your workload to meet the demands of the role.

This is a full-time peripatetic role on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2021 (with the potential to extend further) requiring travel around the Yorkshire and Humber area and with visits to our Barnsley office. 

  • The salary of £35,000 for the right candidate
