About the role

In this role you will support the successful delivery of Hertfordshire Growth Hub’s (HGH) EU Transition business support programme until March 31 2021. You will ensure that Hertfordshire SMEs can access credible and timely support, in readiness for the UKs exit from the EU. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored in-depth advice to businesses identified as requiring specialist support to enable them to prepare and respond to changes brought about by EU Transition in one or more of the following areas: import, export, workforce, data storage and flow, public sector procurement, supply chains and intellectual property
  • Keeping abreast of EU Transition/business issues, trends, legislation, regulation and opportunities and sharing best practise with colleagues and other teams as appropriate;
  • Undertaking pro-active outreach activities both with strategic partners and with Hertfordshire SMEs focussed on EU Transition in order to stimulate interest and take up of the service;
  • Completing referrals to specialist providers of EU Transition and other business support services including DIT, IUK, UH, Chambers of Commerce, professional services sector, key partners/organisations in the HGH ecosystem;
  • Identifying opportunities to amplify key HGH and Government messaging through appropriate channels (e.g. social media, newsletters, e-shots, webinars and/or events).

About you

We are looking for someone with senior management experience in an operations role within one or more of the following sectors; Life Sciences, Advanced Engineering, Information Technology or Creative Industries. In addition, you will have business advice/consultancy experience working with senior management teams within SMEs and be available immediately. You will also need to demonstrate experience or knowledge of the following:

  • An understanding of the drivers of business growth and how they apply to scale-up businesses.
  • An up-to-date awareness of business support tools and theory;
  • Ability to interpret outputs of business diagnostic and benchmarking tools to develop/implement action plans;
  • Knowledge of key research and innovation funding schemes;
  • Awareness and understanding of sources of finance and their appropriateness to client growth needs and of other sources of business support;
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office, databases and CRM systems;
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with relevant professional qualifications such as IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance), although commensurate business experience and demonstrable international trade business knowledge are more important.

This is fixed term contract until March 31, 2021 and we are happy to have a conversation about flexible and part time options.  This is a peripatetic role requiring travel around the Hertfordshire County and visits to our Hatfield office, although we are currently working remotely due to Covid-19.

  • The salary of up to £36,540 for the right candidate
  • Car allowance of £3840 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
