About the role

The Innovate UK EDGE service provides advice, information and tailored support to ambitious SMEs that are looking to grow their business through innovation and internationalisation.

In this role you will influence the key decision makers within leading-edge, innovative, high growth SMEs to engage with Innovate UK EDGE support that will help them survive during these unprecedented times, stabilise the business and position it to grow as conditions and markets recover. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging intensively with Innovate UK’s family of clients to encourage them to access the support available to them via Innovate UK EDGE;
  • Using holistic analysis tools to review and diagnose client needs identifying tailored support to address needs;
  • Generating leads through networking and identifying innovative businesses with the best growth potential for commercialisation of their ideas;
  • Representing Innovate UK EDGE through participating/exhibiting and/or presenting at regional events and contributing to the organisation and planning of a range of promotional and marketing activities.

About you

We are looking for someone who has worked within a business support organisation and is highly motivated to engage with existing and potential clients to encourage them to take up Innovate UK EDGE support and services.

You will have:

  • Experience of B2B consultative sales of a service to owners/board/C-suite SME clients;
  • The ability to carry out general business needs assessments and present results to SME owners and Innovate UK EDGE colleagues;
  • Awareness and understanding of other sources of business support to which referrals can be made to address needs not directly supported through the Innovate UK EDGE service.

In addition, you will need to be able to:

  • Diplomatically, competently and effectively engage and communicate with people at all levels (internally and externally);
  • Present and host at events;
  • Be an effective networker;
  • Use own initiative and be self-motivated as well as working well as part of a team;
  • Effectively prioritise multiple demands, make good decisions and act promptly;
  • Use your influencing skills and personal drive to achieve the best outcome for clients.

What do we offer?

This is fixed term contract until March 31 2022 and it is a full-time role, but we are happy to have a conversation about flexible and part time options. 

We currently working remotely due to Covid-19 and meeting our clients through video calls. Therefore, we are flexible around where you are based, however you will be required to travel to clients around the East of England and occasionally to our Hatfield office when required, once restrictions are lifted.

The salary of up to £35,525 for the right candidate (pro rata for part time);

  • Car allowance of £3840 per annum (pro rata for part time);
  • Broadband allowance;
  • A generous, up to 10.5% non-contributory pension scheme (conditional upon being enrolled and remaining in the scheme for the duration of employment);
  • 26 days holiday (rising to 28 after 2 years’ service, pro rata for part time) plus bank holidays;
