Bid Development Manager

About the role

The Bid Development Manager is a critical role in contributing to the Exemplas Group’s planned and sustained business growth through the production of planning, managing and delivering successful bids

In this role you will be responsible for monitoring commercial opportunities and identifying viable bid opportunities; assembling a bid team with the relevant service, business/service and product knowledge required to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process

You will also;

  • monitor the UK market for bidding/contractual opportunities that arise and proactively support market-making opportunities;
  • manage each identified opportunity from project viability assessment to qualification through to contract award, including value proposition, strategy development, solution development, commercial considerations, partner identification, resource implications and risk management;
  • lead on researching, writing (outsourced), preparing and submitting high quality bids and proposals;
  • develop relationships with internal and external key partners, stakeholders and their procurement teams.

About you

This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. It will require strong project management, people and partner management and commercial skills

We are looking for a strategic thinker with a proven track record in Bid Management/Tender Management, with commercial skills and business acumen coupled with previous experience of participating in teams working on public sector procurements projects

You will be ideally educated to degree level, preferably with relevant qualifications (Prince2 Certification and/or APMP Practitioner Certification would be an advantage) however relevant practical experience is most importance and a pre-requisite.

You will also have;

  • knowledge of the Public Sector Business Support landscape and ideally have worked with a provider of Government funded business support programmes and initiatives;
  • awareness of the national, regional and local political context in which Business Support, Skills and Entrepreneurship operates together with current and future challenges and opportunities;
  • experience of successful bidding for business support/economic development services, particularly associated with BEIS, MHCLG, ESFA, LEPs/Local Authorities;
  • experience of building and monitoring a bid budget to ensure that bid submissions provide sufficient return on investment.

This is a full-time role that can be based in either our Hatfield or Cambridge office and  we are happy to have a conversation about flexible working options.

  • The salary of up to £45,000 for the right candidate, dependent on experience
