Foundation Learning
Foundation Learning is a free, fun and practical training programme for young people aged 16-19*. If you’re not at school, college or working and want the qualifications and support to get an Apprenticeship, job or college place.

- Call your teachers by their first name
- No previous experience or academic requirements needed
Each young person has their own personalised programme, made up of 3 key elements: Functional Skills (Maths, English and ICT), Employability & Personal Development and vocational training in your chosen subject area – we currently offer IT in Business, Motor Vehicle, Hairdressing and Retail.
Get financial support
Young people on the Foundation Learning programme can apply for financial support through our 16-19 Bursary – the amount you receive depends on your needs. We also offer one-off payments to help you with food or travel costs.
*19 year olds are only eligible for Foundation Learning if they were still aged 18 on 31 August 2011.
