Becoming a Manager

Whether you are about to promote a supervisor into a management role or becoming a manager yourself, the implications of this new status are wide ranging and will have a substantial effect on the success of the role holder.

Managers have a set of responsibilities which usually includes impact on operations, people and organisational outputs as well having a say in determining objectives and performance criteria for themselves and others for whom they have responsibility.

Decision making capacities are likely to increase, they are often more likely to interact with other managers in the same and related organisations and they will acquire a certain “status” that goes with the title which will influence how others (including customers) perceive them. They will be expected to set a working style example, problem solve and have a certain level of authority that goes with the title “manager.”
