Business London Franchise Programme

Franchising to boost new businesses and jobs across London

Londoners will soon be able to find out about the benefits that Franchising can bring to them, to their businesses and to the capital’s economy. Business London Franchise, a new London Development Agency (LDA) led and funded programme, has been set up to promote Franchising across London. As a key strand of the LDA funded Business London start-up programme, the franchise programme, will be delivered by Exemplas Ltd, working in partnership with British Franchise Association (BFA), whichfranchise.com and a number of local London business support organisations.

"Franchising is a great route to self-employment within the capital, and also contributes to regeneration."

Norah Boylan - Project Manager

Encouraging Londoners to explore Franchise

Business London Franchise will encourage Londoners to explore the option of business start-up and self-employment through Franchising. The programme runs between November 2007 and March 2009 and focuses on encouraging business start-up in London.

This programme follows on from the success of a Franchising pilot project delivered across London City Growth areas earlier this year by East London Small Business Centre (ELSBC), Exemplas, BFA and whichfranchise.com.

Professionally delivered seminar

Adeel Yasin, Sales Director from Croydon, benefited from the help of the Franchising pilot project when setting up in business. “Excellent seminar, delivered professionally. Invaluably helpful advice would recommend to all people looking to start franchising” said Adeel.

As well as running a free series of half-day Franchising workshops across London, Business London Franchise will provide access to online Franchising information, hold accredited training for business advisors and host best practice forums for its delivery partners.

Accessible advice and support

Norah Boylan, Project Manager at Exemplas, said: “Franchising is a great route to self-employment within the capital, and also contributes to regeneration, as we discovered through the pilot project. Business Franchise London will offer accessible advice and support for people who look to become self-employed as a franchisee using viable and proven business models”.

The Business London Franchise programme will be supported on the ground by five sub regional business consortia: ELSBC, West London Business, Prevista Ltd, Urban Futures and GLE ONELondon.
