History

Over the last 13 years Exemplas has helped more than 30,000 individuals assess their suitability for self-employment and more than 100,000 organisations to develop and grow.

Exemplas has had access to over 20,000 employers over the past year, to deliver business advice and support. Of these, 13,000 have gone on to receive further interventions.  Impact evaluation figures demonstrate a 93% satisfaction rating with those who employ fewer than fifty staff.


Following Exemplas support for new business, 78% of all business start-ups are still trading after three years and 95% of clients saying that their expectations had met or were exceeded by the support received by Exemplas.

Exemplas was named one of Europe's top 500 employment growth companies in 2004.  The list was endorsed by 3i, Microsoft, Boston Consulting Group and Price Waterhouse Cooper. To qualify, Exemplas had to display evidence of sustained growth since the year 2000, boosting employment and sales at an average annual rate of 15%.

Exemplas has been recognised as one of the UK's 100 most visionary organisations. The 'Vision 100' award, sponsored by BT, was designed to showcase innovation in UK enterprises, while seeking to bring to the fore organisations that continued to be creative and agile in difficult economic conditions.

We are a 'customer first' accredited company, a standard awarded to business support organisations who demonstrate a first-class understanding of the needs of their customers and deliver excellent customer service.

Exemplas has helped a number of Learning and Skills Councils (LSC) to engage employers and broaden workforce development activities through the delivery of the core workforce development contract. We have adopted a sector focus to the engagement of employers and the provision of demand-led solutions.

Our relationship with the LSC Hertfordshire that has been recognised as national best practice by the National Body of LSC Executive Directors.

Exemplas supports the Minority Business Network - the second largest of its kind in the country, established in 1995, with an 800-strong membership.

Exemplas supports the New Horizons Network, designed to bring together professional women who can share issues, experiences and aspirations, and link to other networks that focus on key women's issues.
