As the business and number of contracts grew, the company
invested in the latest precision tooling and machinery to meet demand. Subsequently, it became apparent that their workforce
would require ongoing training and developing with in-depth knowledge of the machines and working practices.

Following recommendations from Exemplas, Qualiturn undertook a series of process reviews to improve their Quality Management system (QMS) to meet the ISO 9001 standard. As a result, Qualiturn successfully achieved certification. In order to retain certification, it is essential that regular internal audits are conducted, to ensure that the organisation is continuing to maintain their QMS against the requirements of the Standard and to continuously improve it. These visits are carried out in accordance with an agreed programme by the Exemplas consultant who ensures that the QMS is maintained, improved and periodically reviewed.

The benefits to Qualiturn of achieving ISO 9001 are clear, notably through the continuous improvement to operating procedures and processes.
Customer Focus
This is a core part of the QMS and demonstrates ongoing commitment to excellence and to continuous improvement. Achieving the ISO 9001 has opened doors to new clients and market sectors, including medical science, automotive and agricultural. Many of these clients demand that their suppliers have ISO 9001 certification.
Training, competence and awareness
Qualiturn now trains its people in-house, producing a workforce that has in-depth knowledge of the company's machines and working practices. Shop floor employees are responsible for setting and operating the machines as well as for quality control. This varied job specification results in improved morale. Staff retention is greater than the industry average.
Supplier Approvals
The QMS has delivered real improvements in supplier relationships as consistent quality practices have been adopted throughout the supply chain. As a result, product quality and quality management has improved which has increased customer satisfaction levels.
Management System Integration
The implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 has also proved beneficial in integrating Quality Management with the company’s Health & Safety and Environmental Management systems.
